INEXPENSIVE VS. CHEAP

There exists a world of difference between two seemingly similar words: inexpensive and cheap. Because we pride ourselves on the highest quality exhibit systems, graphics and customer service we find ourselves constantly defining the line between what makes a high-quality but inexpensive product, and what is simply cheap.

The value of a trade show display encompasses several key factors:

• Is it easy and quick to setup and takedown?
• Is the shipping / transport solution simple and effective?
• Is the hardware durable? Does it include a warranty?
• Are the graphics durable and visually appealing?
• How easy is it to change or alter graphics? How much will it cost?
• Can the display be adjusted or resized for different events for added value?

We often see opportunities to purchase inexpensive alternatives within our product line. Unfortunately, we often find that these solutions are just as cheap. On the surface they look like our pop-ups, banner stands, and Octanorm exhibits, but they almost always compromise on one or more value factors: cheap, easily damaged graphics, unwarrantied hardware, complicated setups, and unwieldy shipping solutions.

Our favourite Brit, George Daglish, has a great example: he walks into a store and buys a $5 shirt. After wearing it once he washes it, only to find the collar buckled and it's shrunk two sizes. It was both cheap and inexpensive. So the next time he needs a new shirt, what does he do? Buys the $20 shirt. It's still inexpensive, but not cheap.
