the project

Following a wayfinding update at one of their residential retirement communities, United Active Living turned their attention to their downtown Calgary corporate office. The goal was to carry the same signage consistency and warmth into a professional environment, extended through branded privacy film and vinyl wall features. The system also needed to scale and adapt as the team grew and as spaces evolved or were reassigned.

A small Drop-in Workspace plaque mounted on a low office partition, with cubicles in the foreground and a staff member working at a desk in the background.
An Exhibit Studio designer at her workstation reviewing the Adobe Illustrator artwork for United Active Living's entryway sign, with dimensions and a human silhouette shown for scale.
An Exhibit Studio installer in a teal company shirt aligning a Drop-in Workspace plaque to a wall using a green cross-line laser level.

The Solution

Starting at the entryway, vinyl privacy film covers the glass with a frosted band — featuring a partial transparent logo. This is complimented by a wall-mounted acrylic sign layered over a glossy vinyl logo for immediate branded impact.

Throughout the office, wood laminate plaques appear in three coordinated formats: room IDs for the boardroom and shared spaces, office nameplates, and desk signs for cubicle and drop-in areas.

Each plaque is built around an interchangeable name-and-title slide insert. This ensures the United Active Living team can update names, titles, or room labels internally for a flexible, long-lasting system.
